Happy FALL Bethune Families!
I am so happy to be beginning my second year at Bethune and my twenty first year working in Minneapolis Public Schools. We are really excited to have Ms.Woods as our new Principal at Bethune, she is a great addition to our amazing community. During my career in Minneapolis I have worked as a classroom teacher, a Math Coach and as an Administrative TOSA. It was as a classroom teacher that I discovered my love of leading.
Originally from Alaska, I moved to Minnesota to attend College at Gustavus Adolphus College and studied Elementary Education. I was given an opportunity during College to student teach in Minneapolis and knew then it was where I wanted to teach. While teaching in K-3 classrooms in Minneapolis I earned my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. After working as a Math Coach I decided that I would pursue my license to become a Principal at Mankato State University.
When I am not at Bethune, I can be found spending time with my two amazing children. Whether running them to different school and sporting events in Minneapolis or planning our next adventure, we are a family on the go that loves learning and adventuring to new places.
As an Assistant Principal, I am given daily opportunities to support students, teachers and families in having a positive experience at school. I want our school to be a safe, nurturing community where all children are given opportunities to grow and have a voice in their future. Bethune is an amazing community and I feel lucky to be a part of it! I am excited as we begin to plan for our transition as an Arts Magnet School.
