Jasper Jonson - Assistant Principal at Bethune Community School

May 31, 2018

Dear Bethune community,

I am pleased to announce Jasper Jonson as the new principal of Bethune, effective July 1, 2018.

Mr. Jonson has extensive experience in education, including as a teacher in Minneapolis and Robbinsdale, and more than two years serving the Bethune community as Assistant Principal. Throughout his career, Mr. Jonson has demonstrated his leadership and commitment to equity so that every student he serves receives the individualized attention they need to succeed.

Mr. Jonson received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls, and earned a Master’s degree in Education — with a focus on Special Education — and a principal’s license from the University of St. Thomas.

In talking about his new role, Mr. Jonson said he is excited to move into the role of principal at Bethune and is committed to the success of our students. “Having the opportunity to work with such wonderful staff, students, and families at Bethune as the Assistant Principal has been an incredible experience. Bethune is truly a community built on the belief that ALL students have the opportunity to grow in many ways through the values of advocacy, creativity, cultural responsiveness, equity and community. I am grateful for the continued opportunity to reinforce these values for everyone — staff and students alike — that come to Bethune. We are a family. And I am honored to be a part of it,” he said.

Please join me in congratulating Principal Jasper Jonson on his new role in the Bethune community. If you have any questions, please contact me at 612.668.0140.

Thank you for your continued commitment to our students’ academic success.
